Scouting programs are delivered to over 2,000 youth throughout our twelve counties due in large part to the support provided by families, vounteers, community members, and local businesses. The Executive Board of the Black Warrrior Council is committed to see that no youth is denied the Scouting opportunity due to finances. The Council's annual budget is governed by a volunteer Board made up of parents, leaders, and community leaders. Your support of local Scouting truly does make a difference!

Support Scouting

Local contributions provides the necessary funding for the Council's annual budget. The annual budget enables our Scout Service Center and Scout Shop to operate, pays maintenance and utility costs for our three camping properties, provides for professional staff support, and handles expenses outside the reach of activity funds.

Camperships/ScoutReach

Campership funds are typically provided to our youth at a 50% rate to offset the full cost of activity fees to district and council events. We do receive some grant funding to provide camperships. Each year, over 200 Scouts enjoy assistance from these funds. ScoutReach is a program to meet needs of under privileged youth.

Community leaders have been integral to the success of Scouting in the West Alabama area. Each year, a community leader is recognized for thier leadership, commitment, and support. Past recipients are truly a "Who's Who" of leadership and advocacy for youth. Contact Bill Gosselin, Concil Executive, for more information.

Steel Horse Ride

One of the most enjoyable activities in support of Scouting has been the "Steel Horse Ride". Motorcyclists from across the area participate in a day long ride on the road. At the conclusion, there is great food, door prizes, and fellowship.  Contact Zac Lollar, Development Director for more information.
